The transformation of this condo began at the front door, with a richly hued octagonal rug that was custom-designed to mirror the foyer’s ceiling and walls. One short wall was added to create a true focal point opposite the entry. The updated kitchen features clean, sleek lines and a stone backsplash cut in a distinctive leaf pattern.  Off the kitchen, a banquette turned the eating area into a warm and inviting gathering space.  The living room is light and airy, with its punches of color drawn from the burnished antique rug.  In contrast, the master bedroom offers cool tranquility even during a blazing sunset.

With its warm color palette, the wide mix of patterned fabrics, the high, wood-paneled ceiling and the fieldstone fireplace in the great room, this home evokes the comfortable and welcoming feel of the finest European country manors. The painting above the fireplace draws the eye—and the viewer—into the room. A nearby windowseat blooms with bright and complementary fabrics. In the guest powder room, the monochromatic sheen and matte of the beautiful wall covering provides pattern and complements the Parisian accessories. In the kitchen, the cooking grotto frames a stone mosaic designed by Michal Crosby and hand-executed by a Virginia-based mosaicist.
